Hi everyone!

Hey everyone, I'm new here.  I'm a SAHM of 2 insane children.  lol  I love them to bits though.

On Wednesday I'm starting my raw food journey.  I would do it before then but I don't have any money atm.  My husband gets paid on Wednesday.  :)

I've been raw before.  The first time was when I was pregnant with my daughter, who's 6 now.  For some reason I couldn't keep down anything cooked.  It started with meat and ended with vegetables.  If it was cooked I couldn't eat it.  Unfortunately I went back to cooked foods when she was 3-4 months.

The thing that kept me raw that time was the fact that I couldn't handle cooked foods.  Well, it seems that now that's true for my body once again, though I'm not pregnant.  It started with stomach pains when I ate meat (mostly beef) and now I have severe acid reflux.  Almost everything causes it and my vocal cords are getting damaged.
I learned to listen to my body once before, so I'm doing it again.
I've been thinking about bringing my kids on this raw journey.   My son is 10 and my daughter is 6.  I'm concerned though.  Even though they eat a lot of fruits and they have no problem eating their cooked veggies (plus my daughter loves raw carrots, celery, and cucumber), they also eat a lot of meat and even the occasional McDonnalds.
I'm hoping some of you wonderful people can give me some advice.  I plan on making all sorts of recipes to find things they would like and then go from there.  I just don't know where to start.

If you're new to Raw Foods, or just interested in meeting new people, let's get together and share food!
A ladies-only event, bring a dish to share (100% raw vegan, hopefully organic!) and a girlfriend or two!

Chef Mehmet offered the space for us to use for free, so let's take advantage of the opportunity to not have to clean our own homes/wash our own dishes!!

It would be helpful if you could comment publicly if you'll be bringing a snack, salad, or dessert, that way if someone's torn between making a crazy vegetable creation or a sweet raw treat, they'll have a better idea of what will balance out our massive table of food!

email me: the.rachel.raw@gmail.com if you're stumped and need suggestions!

I think it's a great idea to promote regular raw community,
let's help eachother stick to our guns!

See you then!!!!!!!

Hi, I'm new. My name is Liz and I live near Seattle, WA. I've been a veggie or vegan for years and years and recently went 100% raw. My son (Phoenix - 2) is veggie but often shares my raw food as well. I am currently nursing my 7 week old (Scarlett) also. And, my husband, Ethan, is a meat and potatos guy! I'm really enjoying the raw foods. I have smoothies for breakfast, salads for lunch and, oh, the desserts are amazing. I have yet to find a raw entree that I really like though. I am keeping my fat and nuts up due to my nursling. It's great to find a raw family community!

"My friend and 20+ year Raw Food Mentor, Dr. Doug Graham says for optimum Raw Food preparation he likes to apply the 5-5-5 rule. 'If it doesn't have more than 5 ingredients, doesn't take more than 5 minutes to make, and doesn't cost more than $5 for ingredients, he will enjoy it.'"

Strict Vegan Diets May Be Dangerous, Especially for Expectant Mothers and Children Worth reading to be informed of opposing viewpoints. It seems that eating a varied diet, keeping track of calories consumed for your children if necessary or if there is a concern (keep track of weight and growth and make sure it is appropriate), and supplementing would resolve these concerns...
